Authentic Zuppa Inglese has no cherry juice. It is made with Alchermes, a liquor which can only be obtained in Italy. Our family has made Zuppa Inglese for almost 100 years, and the custard is made painstakingly from scratch. There are probably 100 different versions out there, depending upon which region of Italy your family came from, and yours sounds delicious.-15 Oct 2004

I made this for Christmas and WOW it was beautiful and delicious! I made no changes to the recipe and it is a "keeper". I can only imagine the real Italian version as the previous reviewer shared. Must be over the top, but you cannot go wrong serving this very simple to make and elegant dessert! Thanks for sharing it!-26 Dec 2009

This was a very similar texture to Tiramisu-but with a Spumoni flavor. I had a party and make this and everyone liked it. I couln't find ladyfinger cookies so I used the anisette sponges and it turned out fine. I did end up using more cherry juice and rum extract though. I was pleasantly surprised.-03 Apr 2005

What Goes into this Recipe

The ingredients in this delicious and decadent no-bake banana pudding are packed or quick-cooking kind. There are no secret or obscure ingredients and no cooking, just the best good old-fashioned recipe.

  • Whole Milk: The milk in this recipe is used to make the pudding, which is why I recommend using whole milk. It will make the pudding much creamier and thicker.
  • Instant Vanilla Pudding Mix: You will need a 5.1-ounce box of instant vanilla pudding mix.
  • Sweetened Condensed Milk: this canned milk is key for adding a delicious creamy sweetness to the recipe and also a thickness to the consistency.
  • Heavy Cream: you will need heavy cream to make the homemade whipped cream that is layered into the trifle as well as folding into the pudding mixture. Both heavy cream and heavy whipping cream will work.
  • Bananas: for this recipe, you will only need 4 bananas, more if you&rsquod liked banana pudding with bananas mixed in.

Oreo Trifle Recipe

I honestly love making different recipes to put into my pampered chef trifle bowl. They are easy to make and you can alter the ingredients to fit the occasion.

When I hosted a baby sprinkle for my sister I used pink cake so the layers looked really pretty!

Chocolate Trifle Recipe

This dessert is so rich and looks so elegant, your holiday guests will think you spent all afternoon stirring the pudding and making brownies from scratch. Shhh&hellipit&rsquos ok, we won&rsquot tell them that this recipe easy enough for the novice baker. In fact, it is the perfect dish for an inexperienced cook there is very little hands-on time, you use convenience products, and your efforts produce this stunning and delicious Chocolate Trifle. The recipe was first published in the December, 1993, issue of Southern Living and quickly became a reader favorite, not just for the holidays but anytime you need a quick dessert that feeds a crowd. The original recipe calls for a 19.8-ounce package of fudge brownie mix and 3 (3.9-ounce) packages of chocolate instant pudding mix. Those specific size packages may not be available any longer, but this recipe will still work using today&rsquos package sizes. You make one package of brownies according to package directions (drizzle Kahlua or strong coffee over brownies while they are warm), and then prepare the pudding according to directions. Crumble brownies once they are cooled, and then layer brownies, pudding, frozen whipped topping (another great convenience product), and crushed toffee-flavored candy bars. Repeat the layers until you reach the top of your trifle bowl.

Strawberry Trifle Directions:

  1. Layer of Strawberry Cake – I normally crumble it but you can cut pieces as well
  2. Layer of Vanilla Pudding
  3. Layer of Strawberry Pie Filling
  4. Layer of Cool Whip
  5. Repeat

I topped mine with a little bit of the strawberry pie filling but you can add fresh strawberries or just leave it plain.

A trifle and a parfait are very similar in concept. They are both basically layers of pudding or yogurt, chocolate, fruit with cake, cookie or brownie pieces.

It&rsquos Labor Day Weekend! Every holiday weekend I am asked about what I plan to cook and bring to our annual friends and family cookout. This year I had help from my friend, Amber. She was in town visiting me from Chicago.

We have been friends for years, but I had yet to have any of her famous banana pudding trifle. I have watched her prepare it and take photos on social media countless times before. I wanted a turn! I also wanted a small &ldquoget out of cooking for the BBQ&rdquo free card. Amber saved the day!

I went back and forth for a short while on whether I wanted to manipulate the ingredients to lighten-up the recipe some. After talking it through with Amber I decided against it. You guys know I can SNATCH pretty much any recipe.

This is Amber&rsquos recipe. I felt like it should remain untouched. I also want to be sure my blog has Treat Yourself recipes. This recipe falls into that category. When you are consistently working hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle, you definitely deserve a reward from time to time.

I recently made Truffle Oil Mushroom Cheeseburgers that fall into this category as well. Be sure to check out the recipe!

I did the photography for these photos, but Amber did all of the food styling on her own. She did an amazing job, especially for someone who is not a food blogger!

We took the banana pudding to our friends and family BBQ and it was a major hit. There wasn&rsquot any left to take home!
